Brazilian winger Willian left Arsenal for free in the summer after his contract was terminated at Arsenal by mutual consent and the 33 year old is currently at Brazilian club Corinthians.
Willian left Chelsea for Arsenal in 2020 after rejecting a 2 year contract offer from the blues while opting for Arsenal’s 3 year offer.
Things didn’t quite go as planned for the 33 year old as he left Arsenal after just one year at the club. Arena SBT caught up with Willian recently after a game and he explained the real reason behind his move away from London.
“My year at Arsenal was a bit complicated. I really couldn’t adapt to the club. I wasn’t happy there”
Willian further claimed that it was his own decision to rescind his contract at Arsenal despite rumours suggesting it was a move initiated by the club.
“To make it very clear too, it wasn’t the club that wanted me to leave. I wanted to leave the club. I expressed my feeling, said I wasn’t happy. I said I wanted to look elsewhere, another place to play. And so there was this decision to leave. There are things in life that money can’t buy, money doesn’t pay for. You have joy, happiness, peace, a solid family. I think this is the most important thing for me.”
Willian would be looking to enjoy a new lease of life at Corinthians were he first started his career before moving to Europe in 2007 as he hopes to put an underwhelming 12 months at Arsenal behind him.
