Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has today completed a move to join Italian club AS Roma, following the exit of Roma striker Edin Dzeko to Inter Milan as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku who signed for UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea.
The transfer of Tammy Abraham to Roma has completed a perfect transfer triangle between Chelsea, Inter Milan and AS Roma.
Tammy Abraham is poised to receive the No. 9 jersey and has signed a five year contract with AS Roma after they (Roma) paid Chelsea a whopping sum of €40 million with a reported additional €5 million in add-ons.
However, Chelsea inserted a buy back clause of €80 million to Tammy Abraham’s deal, the buy back clause will become active in two years time (2023).
AS Roma’s announcement video has however gotten fans and pundits across the globe talking, as AS Roma decided to announce missing individuals alongside announcing Tammy Abraham’s acquisition from Chelsea. This decision has led to Roma being lauded by fans and pundits alike.
Following the announcement of Tammy Abraham at AS Roma, Chelsea’s director Marina Granovskaia took her time to explain that Tammy Abraham will always be welcomed back to Chelsea.
She said, “Tammy will always be welcomed back at Stamford Bridge as one of our own. We have all enjoyed watching his progress through our Academy and into the first-team squad, and are grateful for his contribution to our successes at senior and youth level.
“His many goals in a Chelsea shirt and, of course, his part in our Champions League triumph last season will never be forgotten. I’m sure all Chelsea supporters will join me in wishing Tammy a long and successful career.”
Tammy Abraham who scored 30 goals in 82 matches for Chelsea across all competitions will however look to hit the ground running at AS Roma.
