Chelsea finally acquired the signing of Saúl Ñíguez from Atletico Madrid on deadline day after both parties agreed on terms.
Chelsea paid €5million to acquire the signature of the Spanish international with an option to buy for £30million pounds at the end of the season.
Atletico Madrid on the other hand were also able to set their hands on their former star Antoine Griezmann on a loan deal from Barcelona following an agreement to allow Saúl to join Chelsea on a season-long loan.
The Colchoneros are however obligated to sign Griezmann for a reported sum of £34million (€40million) once his loan deal expires.
Saúl however took his time to buttress his plans ahead of his trip to London
He said: “I don’t know what my plan is for tomorrow. Probably when I arrive I will go to the hotel and then immediately to training. Later, I will probably have to spend time with the club media, do interviews, photos…
“I’m looking forward to the trip, I’m about to go packing my suitcase. I want to be there and start a new adventure.”
Chelsea were able to announce the signing of Saúl Ñíguez before transfer window time elapsed.
