Pep Guardiola has said he will give several Manchester City academy players an opportunity vs Wycombe on Tuesday night. Rodrigo, Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Oleksandr Zinchenko are all injured, while Ilkay Gundogan is also unlikely to feature.
Adebayo Akinfenwa: “We [Wycombe] wanted anyone but Manchester City [in the Carabao Cup]! Everyone knows we’ll do a lot of running, but when you play lower leagues, you want to pit your wits against the biggest clubs, and there’s no doubt Manchester City are one of the biggest in the world…”
Adebayo Akinfenwa: “When the draw was made it was, ‘yeah! Manchester City at the Etihad!’ then the realisation quickly sank in and it was, ‘boy, we may not see the ball much!’. We’re going to just try and enjoy as best we can and hopefully spring one or two surprises.”
Kayky is eligible for Manchester City in the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, but will not be available for any of the five remaining UEFA champions league group stage matches. However, should Manchester City make the knockout stages, they have room on List A.
