Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has reportedly completed his medicals as he looks forward to completing his £34 million (€40 million) switch to Roma.
Tammy Abraham fell down the pecking order following the sack of former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and despite being the club’s joint topscorer last season with 12 goals, Frank Lampard’s successor Thomas Tuchel doesn’t rate the English striker.
The arrival of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan in a deal worth £98 million (€115 million) will definitely see the 23 year old fall further in the pecking order.
However, following the intervention of Roma’s general manager Tiago Pinto, Tammy Abraham has completed his medicals and is poised to earn a whopping sum of £4 million after tax on an annual basis.
Chelsea however added a buy back clause of £68 million (€80 million) to Tammy Abraham’s deal. This buy back clause can only be triggered in 2023, not next summer as Tammy Abraham edges close to signing his five years contract at Roma, under the management of former Chelsea coach José Mourinho.
Ahead of Abraham’s €40 million switch to Roma, he was seen at Rome’s Ciampino airport and was received well by supporters.
Tammy Abraham who scored 30 goals in 82 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions was seen as a perfect Edin Dzeko replacement by José Mourinho. Dzeko was signed by Inter Milan to replace Romelu Lukaku who signed for Chelsea and Roma are on the verge of completing the acquisition of Tammy Abraham from Chelsea to complete a perfect transfer triangle.
Tammy Abraham however will look to hit the ground running for Roma and step into the shoes of his predecessor.
