Chelsea were impressive yesterday in their London derby win as they ran out 3-0 victors against Tottenham Hotspur away from home.
Chelsea were without a couple of key players though and there was even a surprise name on the Tuchel’s starting xi with second choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga starting in place of Edouard Mendy who was missing from the matchday squad.
One player has been missing from matchday squads for longer periods though, and that is Christian Pulisic who returned from the international break with an ankle injury.
The U.S international was ruled out for 10 days and is almost at his recovery point and would probably be fit to face Aston Villa in the carabao cup in midweek.
Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel has provided an update on the forward but he doesn’t seem quite sure if Pulisic would be available for selection in midweek.
“I think for Christian (Pulisic), the game against Aston Villa is maybe a bit too close. I hope that I’m wrong but this is my impression.”
“He’s not in training so far but let’s see tomorrow. Maybe if he had a good progression today, maybe it’s possible. It would be super nice for us to have him but for me it’s a bit doubtful.”
Chelsea have looked a strong team overall this season without some of their best players but they’ve had no choice but to miss the influence of certain players at some point and Tuchel would definitely love to have a lot of options at his disposal especially in attack.
