Left alone in the middle of the park, Gilmour looked shaky and one could sence tension in him during the early minutes of the game, a reason for the tension could be because this would be his first time playing under Tuchel and he wouldn’t want to make any error that might result in him being reverted into a bench player given the quality above him in the pecking order (Kante, Kovasic and Jorginho).
Billy Gilmour was calm and collected as he did put in a shift in Midfield and that resulted in Tuchel giving him huge praises when asked on his opinion about Gilmour performance during the game.
Tuchel on Gilmour’s performance: “Very, very good. He’s well aware of his qualities, which is good. It was not necessary for him to convince me today because I’m already convinced, otherwise I would not have picked him for the line-up. So it was necessary that he plays his part”
An instrumental wonderkid under Frank Lampard before the Injury that kept him out of the starting XI for a long period of time, even talks have been escalating about him getting loaned out for next season.
Hopefully Gilmour has just earned the trust of his manager Thomas Tuchel.
