Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel while addressing the media earlier today spoke on new signing Saúl Niguez, his debut, and how he’s adjusting to the team.
Saúl had a debut to forget last weekend against Aston Villa as he was withdrawn at halftime after series of misplaced passes and mistakes that could have cost Chelsea in the first half.
Saúl who is currently on loan from Atletico Madrid didn’t quite look the part in his first game and Tuchel’s decision to substitute him proved the right decision as the Blues played better from then on.
Tuchel however understands with his midfielder and is ready to show support.
“We have guys who experienced the same difficult start. This team is a supportive team, so everyone shared their experiences. Me as a coach, the same. I watch Premier League and managing, it was another level despite playing those teams.”
Tuchel further believes that the Spaniard would adapt with time on his side and the German tactician is not in doubt of Saúl’s qualities.
“Every three days, it’s quite impressive and a shock of culture. We don’t doubt his quality and ability to adapt. It may take some time tog et off his shoulders but he’s at an age where he does’t worry as much and confident.”
“The good thing is everyone knows him well, so there are no doubts. He just needs time. The best thing to react is to train good with intensity.”
Time is something Saúl might have at his disposal in the next few weeks due to the packed schedule as Tuchel might just consider throwing him again, especially for one of the upcoming cup games until he adapts fully.
