While speaking on The Transfer Window Podcast, transfer expert and football correspondent Duncan Castles have revealed what he has ‘heard’ about Arsenal transfer budget.
Arsenal are rumoured to be gunning for a creative midfielder this summer and possibly a winger.
It was reported that the Gunners are willing to spend big this summer to help Arteta strengthen the squad as they seek a top 4 spot.
But popular transfer expert Duncan Castles have come out to debunk claims of Arsenal wanting to spend big.
The English journalist is very connected at Arsenal, and he revealed he’s heard that the Gunners don’t have a massive transfer budget to spend this month.
Speaking in the Podcast, Castles confirmed Arsenal have a very slim budget to spend on transfers.
He also confirmed recent reports of Arsenal wanting to sign a creative midfielder this summer.
In his words, he said:
“Arsenal, their priority in this window in midfield has been a creative midfielder, basically someone who is a cross between a number eight and a number 10, so a box to box midfielder with creativity and pass creation skills.
“I’m told they’re working on a pretty limited budget to do that of around €20 million (£17.8m), so you want a player who will take a fundamental role in the team, and change the midfield in an important way, but you’re trying to do it for a price that is very difficult to achieve.” He concluded.
Emi Buendia and Julian Brandt are the two names heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this January.
It’s no surprise are both players have bargain price tags.
