Zouma happens to be one of the players whose future at the club remains a debate as he has been linked with several clubs including West Ham, Tottenham and also rumoured to be involved in a swap deal which will see him join Sevilla with Jules Kounde coming the other way.
Kurt Zouma however reportedly favours a move across London ahead of a move to Spain due to reasons best known to him.
This has resulted in a series of transfer bids from fellow London clubs like Tottenham and West Ham United, although both clubs still fall short of Chelsea’s evaluation for the French defender.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has however poured cold water on speculations that Kurt Zouma doesn’t have a future at the bridge under his management.
“Kurt comes from a very different situation.” Says Tuchel when asked about possible transfer exits
“Kurt was part of the team for half a year, I know him exactly, what I can demand from him, what he can give to the team. He was part of a very successful half season.”
“He was a very lively part of it, maybe not in minutes but I want to remember he was a crucial member of the team that won 2-0 against Atletico, for example.”
“So when he was needed, and he had some tough decisions against him, but when he delivered. So the situation isn’t comparable to Ruben Loftus Cheek.”
“Ruben needs to show everything in a few weeks if that’s possible. For Kurt, it’s different as I know what he can deliver.”
The Champions of Europe will face Villarreal on the 11th of August before clashing with Crystal Palace in their opening fixture of the Premier League season three days after. It remains to be seen if Zouma will be at the club by then.
