Chelsea are set to face Man City yet again and the whole atmosphere is already building up at Stamford Bridge to play host to two giants of the English game.
Beyond the significance of Chelsea playing Man City and the points at stake, there is a managerial rivalry building up.
Games between sides managed by Thomas Tuchel and Pep Guardiola have been keenly contested as both managers have 4 wins each while playing a draw on one occasion.
Heading into today’s encounter, Tuchel has the psycholgical advantage though as the German has beaten Pep Guardiola in their last 3 straight meetings.
Tuchel however believes that today’s game would be tough and he’s reflected on his most recent victory over Guardiola which came in the champions league final. The German tactician is of the opinion that the game in Portugal could have gone either way.
Tuchel: “When I analyse the last three games, I still feel that these games could have gone either way. If City scores the first goal, we maybe have a whole different talk about it now.”
Tuchel: “So it is about the first goal, the reaction, defending, tackles, a shot hitting the bar or the back of the net, it’s about details. We can never, never lose intensity or focus against Pep’s teams, it’s simply impossible. That’s what I mean.”
Tuchel: “I expect another 50/50 match tomorrow and we know how tough they can be. We want to make it very tough for City again.”
Stamford Bridge awaits for the meeting of two great tactical minds of the modern footballing era few hours from now and crux of Chelsea vs Man City is just set to be another interesting tactical battle.
