Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has today confirmed in a press conference that 2 players would be unavailable for Chelsea’s game against Aston Villa tomorrow.
The gaffer has confirmed to the media that both N’golo Kanté and Christian Pulisic are injured. The latter returned from international duty with the United States of America after picking up an ankle injury in USA’s game against Honduras a couple of days back.
According to Tuchel, Pulisic returned with crutches and he’d need 10 days to get back to full fitness. N’golo Kanté meanwhile got injured before the international break in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. Though, the Frenchman was called up to the French squad for the recent internationals, he had to withdraw and make a return to Chelsea almost immediately after linking up with the France squad.
Kanté wouldn’t be out for very long though as it has been confirmed by Tuchel that the French midfielder is expected to be fit and available for selection for Chelsea’s first UCL game of the season against Zenith St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
The only injury doubt before now was Romelu Lukaku who withdrew from the Belgium squad to have a scan on an issue with his knee but it has now been confirmed that the Belgian trained fully with the squad ahead of the Aston Villa game and he’s fit and available for selection.
Apart from Kanté and Pulisic, no new injury problems have been confirmed as Chelsea head into the premier league game with Villa.
The non injury absentees are obviously Reece James who would be serving a one match ban for his red card against Liverpool and Thiago Silva who is among the 8 Premier League Brazilian players the Brazilian FA triggered a FIFA ban on. Though, there might be a possibility Silva plays tomorrow, not yet clear.
