Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has revealed that he wishes Manchester United had signed Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang before he signed for Arsenal.
The Gabonese striker joined Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 for a fee reported to be around £56million.
Aubameyang have had a really good run of form at Arsenal since signing from Dortmund, scoring 75 goals in 126 games for the club.
The 31-year-old striker seem to be struggling with form this season, scoring on three goals in the Premier League.
Despite his bad run of form, Manchester United’s legend Rio Ferdinand still remains a big fan of the Gabonese striker and wishes his former club had signed him before he joined Arsenal in 2018.
Speaking in an interview with FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand said:
“What is the problem with Aubameyang? How has he gone from being one of the most potent strikers in the Premier League if not in Europe, to what he’s doing now?
“How’s that happened? It’s not the Aubameyang I know. I don’t know how Arsenal fans are defending him.
He continued saying, “That is the biggest thing for Mikel Arteta, the biggest thing Arteta needs to do right now is to get him playing again.
“He’s got all these young, exciting prospects, you just want Aubameyang there around doing his stuff as well.
“I love Aubameyang, I think he is an unbelievable player who I would love in my team. I would have loved Manchester United to buy him before he went to Arsenal, I think he’s a top, top player and a ridiculous finisher.” He concluded.
