Christian Pulisic has revealed in his latest interview that Chelsea’s new manager Thomas Tuchel has been coaching him to play a new position at Chelsea.
Thomas Tuchel joined Chelsea on Tuesday last week following the dismissal of Frank Lampard.
The German has already made a clear tactical statement in the club both on and off the pitch.
It isn’t a surprise as it is widely known that Tuchel is a tactical genius and also an expert on the training ground.
One of the most shocking tactical tweaks under Tuchel’s management have being the conversion of English young winger Callum Hudson-Odoi to the role of wingback.
The youngster have been deployed at that role in the first two games under Tuchel and has surprisingly played the role really well, winning the Man of the Match award on both occasions.
Christian Pulisic have now come out to reveal that his new boss has been training him to play a false 9 role which is entirely new to him.
While speaking to the club’s official website, Pulisic said:
“It’s a kind of a false striker. It’s been good so far. We’ve got a new outlook on things, we have had a really good win so it’s been a positive start.
“It’s been some crazy times recently and just to get a win left all the guys in the changing room really excited. We have had a lot of fun in training and there are smiles on faces which is good to see.” He contined.
Pulisic spoke further about Chelsea’s upcoming clash against Tottenham on Thursday and he said the squad is feeling very confident ahead of the clash.
“It’s a good time to play them [Tottenham] coming off a good result for us.
“We’re feeling confident. We’re really excited. It’s a good chance to make a statement and most importantly really build some momentum. We know what a good result.” He concluded.
Pulisic has failed to start both games under Tuchel and will be looking to get his first start under this new management tomorrow.
