Juventus host Chelsea tonight in a battle of the champions league group H big boys.
It’s a UCL matchday 2 clash between 2 of the group’s favourites and after wins in their first games against Malmo and Zenit respectively, both sides would be looking to strengthen their grip and go 3 points clear at the top of the group.
Juventus are picking form right in time for the clash against the UCL holders. After a disappointing and winless start to their Serie A season, the old ladies of Turin have recorded back to back 3-2 wins in the past one week against Spezia and Sampdoria respectively.
Max Allegri’s charges are top of UCL group Home and though as a superior goal difference put them in first position ahead of Chelsea after matchday 1.
Chelsea meanwhile suffered their first defeat after an almost flawless start to the season as they fell one nil at home to Man City. The Blues would be looking to bounce back against Juve and establish their superiority in group H.
Former blue Alvaro Morata is expected to miss the clash for Juventus against his former side with an injury, so is the case with Argentine winger Paulo Dybala. Allegri confirmed on Sunday.
The Italian giants are also set to be without former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey who has also been ruled out with an injury. Juventus would be having enough cover in midfield though as both Arthur and Adrien Rabiot returned to training ahead of the clash.
Chelsea on the other hand are set to be without 4 key players for the game away at Turin as star midfielder N’golo Kanté was confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday while Reece James, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic are all out injured.
Juventus predicted xi: Sczeseny; Sandro, De Ligt, Bonnucci, Cuadrado; Locatteli, Bentancur, McKennie; Bernadeschi, Kean, Chiesa
Chelsea predicted xi: Mendy; Rudiger, Silva, Chalobah; Alonso, Jorginho, Kovacic, Azpilicueta; Havertz, Lukaku, Werner
It promises to be a tight encounter between two sides reputed to be conservative defensively. Juventus however seem to have lost their reputation of defensive solidity of late as they’ve shipped in 4 goals in their last 2 games. Hence, their defense is expected to be breached when they come against sides that possess the kind of attacking threat Chelsea possess.
Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri though believes his side are ready for the “test” against the UCL holders. It definitely won’t be an easy game for Chelsea as the old lady possess a lot of experienced quality players in their squad. So expect a keenly contested encounter at the Allianz Arena tonight.
