Chelsea will hope to continue in the good spirit of play following their victory over Crystal Palace as they face their rivals Arsenal in their second premiere League game of the new season.
Thomas Tuchel’s men put three past Crystal Palace last weekend and will be hoping for a similar return this time around, after their 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the preseason game.
Goalkeeper & Defenders
Edouard Mendy (Goalkeeper) – One clean sheet for Edwardo Mendy. After Saturday 3- victory over Crystal Palace in a premiere League opener.
Trevoh Chalobah (Central Back) – Chalobah has been outstanding in the early weeks of his senior Chelsea career and could by any chance earn another chance to start as Tuchel has show interest in the young player.
Thiago Silva (Central Back) – Silva is yet to appear for Chelsea since the end of last season but would Tuchel let him miss the chance of facing Arsenal this season?
Antonio Rudiger (Central Back) – Rudiger will be looking to add another clean sheet to his record and might even offer up a crunching tackle or two.
Cesar Azpilicueta (Right Midfielder) – Having Azpilicueta on the pitch against Arsenal could be what Chelsea needs to retain its pride.
N’Golo Kante (Central Midfielder) – Kante who missed on Crystal Palace game due to injury could have his way on the pitch against Arsenal.
Jorginho (Central Midfielder) – Completing Chelsea’s pair of UEFA player of the year candidates, Jorginho was at fault when Arsenal won the last competitive meeting between these two and will be desperate to make amends.
Marcos Alonso (Left Midfielder) –
Mason Mount (Attacking Midfielder) – Chelsea’s star boy. Mount looked in good physical shape as he played the full 90 minutes against Crystal Palace, so here’s hoping that he’s got another full game in his locker.
Kai Havertz (Attacking Midfielder) – We don’t see Havertz in this midfield role that often these days, but he might be about to return here on a permanent basis.
Romelu Lukaku (Striker) – Lukaku wouldn’t want his debut to come against anyone other than Arsenal, he’ll be absolutely drooling at the prospect of scoring at least 30 goals this season 😉
