3 Mistakes Arteta Made that Cost Arsenal a Win Against Manchester City

Arsenal were terribly shocking in their Game against as they lost to an high pressing Manchester City team.

Goals from Gabriel Jesus, Foden, Mahrez, Laporte were enough to secure a win against Arsenal as the citizens were able to move to the next round of the competition.

1. Starting Players Selection Error

Arteta underestimated the capability of his former boss at Manchester City by selecting an extremely weak line up to face a side that is well experienced in the competition.

His Poor selection in defense cost Arsenal the win pairing both Mustafi and Gabriel (a combination that even an average Joe knows wouldn’t work) Mustafi on his part is error prone and lacks Defensive intelligence in challenging his opponents, Arteta should have able to know how technical the Manchester city players are and how taking Mustafi to face them is a bad idea.

Speaking on Gabriel he had a fairly good game against Manchester city in the Carabao Cup and made some decent tackles even though those tackles couldn’t save Arsenal from losing disgracefully against city.

2. Starting Martinelli when he just came Back from Injury

Off course Martinelli was Arsenal man of the match in yesterday loss and he even was able to bag an assist from a cross to Lacazette but the fact he just returned from a long term Injury was reasonable he wasn’t match fit to start a game.

Unfortunately Martinelli got Injured but he was able to shake it off.

3. Going Ultra Defensive Against Manchester City with the wrong Defensive Combination

Yesterday showed Arsenal are not yet Defensively balanced to play the kind of tactics Arteta is imposing in his team.

A combination of Gabriel and Mustafi was utterly wrong, Gabriel was class but Mustafi showed he doesn’t deserve to play at a club as ambitious as Arsenal.
