Manchester City have spent heavily on improving their defense over the past few seasons, but Pep Guardiola is looking to strengthen his backline this summer.
The Spanish coach will be looking to strengthen his left back position despite having Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko as options.
According to recent reports from the Sun, Manchester City are keeping tabs on Atlanta’s left-back Robin Gosens and are open to offers for Zinchenko.
The 26-year-old is coming off the back of a prolific season at Atalanta, helping the Serie A side finish in a Champions League spot. Gosens had a hand in 17 of their 90 goals in the league, so he’s a real threat from left-back.
Gosens scored 11 goals and made six assists in 32 Serie A outings this campaign, more than Raheem Sterling (10 goals, 7 assists).
The German defender contract expires next year and could find himself subject to a bidding war thanks to his sparkling form.
Barcelona are showing an interest in the 26-year-old and might battle City for his signature, but they have other options on their radar. City could land Gosens for just €40m this summer, so he’s affordable.
