Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified Chelsea as possessing a bigger threat to his team than either Man City or Liverpool.
This season’s premier league campaign has started on an interesting note with all premier league clubs dropping points so far apart from Tottenham who sit pretty with 9 points at the top of the PL log.
According to The Sun, Man Utd coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thinks his side can challenge for the premier league title this season as the Norwegian feels the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo who returned to the club this summer gives his side the needed edge to compete against the best teams in England.
Ole has however pointed out the biggest threat to his side’s ambitions for the season and according to him, Chelsea are more of a bigger threat than either Man City or Liverpool.
Ole’s claim is due to the fact that Chelsea have signed a world class striker this summer. Chelsea paid £97.5 million to Inter Milan for the services of Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku who has returned to the club after spells at Everton, Manchester United, and Inter.
Lukaku has so far hit the ground running with a goal and a man of the match performance on his debut against Arsenal. Belgium’s highest goal scorer of all time is seen by many as the missing piece in Chelsea’s jigsaw and should surely give Chelsea a boost in their title charge this season.
Man City meanwhile failed to sign a striker this summer after the departure of Sergio Aguero this summer as they missed out on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo who eventually joined Manchester United.
Liverpool also didn’t make many significant signings this summer after the departure of Gini Wijnaldum and Xhedarn Shaqiri, and it is probably as a result of this that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees Chelsea as having a stronger squad to challenge for the title.
As premier league football returns this weekend, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to make his debut for Manchester United against Newcastle and Ole would be hoping that Ronaldo’s presence aids his side in their bid to mount a title charge.
