Liverpool set sights on Chelsea winger

Chelsea’s premier league rivals Liverpool have been reported to be keen on Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi. This is according to Italian media outlet Calciomercato.

The Chelsea academy product has struggled for game time this season and has just made one start in all competitions for the blues which came in their 3-0 victory over Aston Villa immediately after the international break.

Hudson-Odoi has been a subject of transfer interest from top clubs over the past few years with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund both indicating legitimate interests in the player at different points. Most recently, Borussia Dortmund who tried to test the resolve of Chelsea concerning the 20 year old in the previous transfer window.

Chelsea have never been willing to let go of Callum Hudson-Odoi and have resisted offers from top clubs like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Hudson-Odoi meanwhile is Keen on having more game time and apparently, a move elsewhere is what would guarantee him more game time.

Since Thomas Tuchel arrived Chelsea in January, Hudson-Odoi has had most of his starts under the German as a wing-back, a position that a lot of people believe might retard the growth of an incredible talent like Hudson-Odoi. Tuchel has though hinted on playing him as a left wing forward and did switch him to that position later in the second half of the 3-0 win over Villa but with the likes of Pulisic, Mount, and Havertz competing for that spot it would be difficult for Hudson-Odoi to make the position permanently his.

The player’s Chelsea contract expires in 2024. Hence, only a very good Liverpool offer would make Chelsea lose one of their best talents to their rivals.
