Jadon Sancho could break David Beckham record at Man Utd if he seals transfer bid

Manchester United are in the race to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer

Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho could equal a David Beckham record at Manchester United if he completes a transfer this summer.

The England international secured his tenth assist of the Bundesliga campaign at the weekend, becoming the first Englishman to reach double figures in a league campaign in a top-five European League since Beckham at the turn of the millennium.

Beckham actually holds the outright record having achieved the feat in four consecutive campaigns between 1997 and 2001.

Sancho is now one season away from tying that record though, with the 21-year-old having hit those numbers in the past three Bundesliga seasons.

While he has been limited to just 25 appearances this season due to injury, his attacking contributions have continued to be extremely valuable.

It’s not just limited to assists though, with Sancho scoring 13 goals in his last 20 appearances – which includes a double in the German Cup final.

However, Dortmund’s efforts are focused upon retaining the services of Erling Haaland for another year and, with United’s need for a striker reducing after Edinson Cavani’s new contract, Sancho is back in sight.

Sancho’s contract with the German side runs until 2023, meaning his value could drop at the end of next season as he’ll be entering the final year with the club.

The former Manchester City youngster remains valued extremely highly now, with a significant sum being required to land his services.
