Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has expressed his readiness to return to the club and use its training facilities pending his getting a new club.
Wilshere came through the Arsenal youth system and started his career at the club as one of the most promising midfielders in England.
A career plagued with incessant injuries and off field issues however meant Wilshere wasn’t gonna reach the heights expected of the incredible talent he is.
The Englishman left Arsenal in the summer that followed the 2017/18 season after spending the previous season on loan at Bournemouth. He joined West Ham on a 3 year deal but things didn’t quite go well at the East London club and his contract was terminated by mutual consent in 2020 with one year still remaining on the contract.
Wilshere joined Bournemouth in January this year on a short term deal and was released at the end of the 2020/21 season which was just few months ago. The 29 year old is currently without a club a club and trains with second division Italian team, Como.
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has spoken on Wilshere’s situation and according to him, his former teammate is always welcome at the club to use the club’s training facilities.
“Jack’s a great guy & someone I used to share a dressing room with. He’s loved here. Our doors are always open.”
Jack Wilshere speaking to Sky Sports has in line with Arteta’s statement few days ago expressed his readiness to return to his boyhood club.
“To hear Arteta come out and say the door is always open is nice. I’m sure I’ll have a conversation with someone at the club over the next few days”.
Jack Wilshere is still just 29 with a vast experience of top class football. His return to using the Arsenal training facilities for fitness could probably revive his career and well, who knows? He might still get a chance at Arsenal.
