Romelu Lukaku was the man of the show once again as he helped Chelsea to a hard fought one nil victory over Zenit St. Petersburg in Chelsea’s first UCL game as defending champions last night.
Lukaku rose highest to a Cesar Azpilicueta cross in the 69th minute to head in the only goal of the match in a game that was bereft of chances and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is full of praise for the Belgian sriker.
The German tactician during his post match conference sounded very impressed with Lukaku as he labelled him as super important.
“He’s super important, it’s as easy as that. You don’t find many strikers of his quality.”
“The performance from Romelu [Lukaku] was not easy. We didn’t create many chances for him but he’s the type of guy who doesn’t lose confidence and belief. And that is why he is a world-class striker.”
Romelu Lukaku’s conversion rate is something that is quite unreal and very impressive, the Belgian has scored 4 goals out of just 6 attempts this season which is nothing short of clinical and it just shows the kind of quality Chelsea have up front this season compared to last season.
Lukaku’s conversion rate especially in a very tight game like last night’s impressed did definitely Tuchel as he stated that Lukaku adds belief to the team.
“There are not many goals in football and goals change the momentum of the match. It gives the whole team belief that one chance is enough for him to score.”
“So it’s not only talent he brings, he brings belief and takes pressure off the shoulders of other guys around him.”
Romelu Lukaku has certainly made a difference for Chelsea this season and his presence on the pitch and in the team is certainly going to help Chelsea continue continue competing for major trophies this term.
