Going into midweek second leg Champions League Semi-final tie against Real Madrid with an away goal advantage, Chelsea might have being handed another boost over Real Madrid.
Real Madrid’s star defender Raphael Varane was withdrawn at half time in Los Blancos 2-0 La Liga win over Osasuna due to a leg injury with Nacho Fernandez replacing him.
An injury to Raphael Varane means every single player of Madrid’s starting back four might be out injured ahead of Chelsea’s clash.
The Spanish giants went into their game against Osasuna on Sunday evening without Dani Carvajal who is now out for the season. Ferland Mendy and Sergio Ramos were forced to miss out through injury too.
According to reports from Marca, Varane will undergo tests on Monday to examine the extent of the injury, with an update expected in the next 24 hours.
However, Real Madrid’s manager Zinedine Zidane gave positive post match comments on Varane injury, as he says he expects the defender to be fit to face Chelsea in midweek Champions League action.
He indicated that the change at half-time was a precaution, stating Varane’s injury to be a minor one.
