Chelsea are on the verge of completing the signing of Inter Milan’s striker Romelu Lukaku as they look to offer the Nerazzurri an improved bid, following a rejected initial offer for the Belgian.
Romelu Lukaku who scored 24 League goals for Inter Milan last season has been poised to lead the Chelsea Frontline in the upcoming Premier League campaign following a couple of disappointments showcased by Chelsea attackers in the just concluded 2020/2021 season.
Inter Milan who initially rejected Chelsea’s €100m plus Alonso bid are likely going to accept Chelsea’s new improved bid of £110m (€130m) for Romelu Lukaku.
However, this hasn’t gone down well with former Chelsea star Glen Johnson who thinks Lukaku will have difficulties with the pace of the game in the Premier League.
He said,”I’m not so sure the Premier League suits Lukaku to be honest,” Johnson told Betting Odds.
“Obviously he’s a big, powerful lad, quite physical but I just think the Premier League’s a bit too quick for him.
“So no, I wouldn’t like to see him return.
“But in certain leagues, he is going to get goals, albeit at a slightly slower pace.”
If Chelsea completes the acquisition of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan, it will make him the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
