Chelsea are still eyeing a potential move for central midfield targets despite signing Saúl Niguez on loan from Atletico Madrid on deadline day.
Saúl Niguez is looking to revitalize his career after a dip in form that has seen his stock drop over the past few years.
Chelsea let Billy Gilmour go on loan to Norwich for the rest of the season in order to let the Scott have more playing time but Thomas Tuchel still fancies long term Chelsea target Declan Rice.
Despite Chelsea having both Billy Gilmour and Saúl Niguez as options, Chelsea still want to sign Declan Rice.
The Blues have however identified French midfielder Aurelien Tchouaméni as an alternative if the Declan Rice deal doesn’t materialize. [per Standard Sports]
Standard Sports are reporting that a deal being done for any of the midfielders is dependent on if Saúl Niguez rediscovers the form that made him one of the world’s most sought after talents years back at Atletico.
If Saúl is able to hit the high standards he earlier set for himself, Chelsea would activate the OPTION to buy in his loan contract at the end of the season and neither Rice nor Tchouaméni would be needed.
The Spaniard has openly expressed delight at joining Chelsea and both parties would be hoping things work out.
