According to recent report, Chelsea are set to battle the likes of Manchester United for the signature of Leipzig’s young centre back Dayot Upamecano.
The defender has been heavily linked with a move away from the German club since last summer and those rumours are still very much active.
His contract at Leipzig includes a £40million release clause which becomes active this summer.
Upamecano has proven himself to be one of the best young defenders in the world in the past few seasons and have being getting lots of interest from top clubs around the world.
Another suitor, Chelsea, have now joined the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the race for Upamecano’s signature in the summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Liverpool and the Champions of Europe Bayern Munich are also reported to be interested in a move for Dayot.
The Blues are on a search for a long-term centre back for Thiago Silva who is only on a one year contract at the club.
It is reported that Chelsea sees Upamecano as that solution and are ready to battle it out for his signature.
With just a £40million release clause, it will be a very long summer for Upamecano in terms of negotiations, given that a lot of tops club will be wanting to jump on the opportunity to sign the defender.
