“Chelsea Plays well Without Havertz” Merson Gives Tactical Advice to Lampard

Merson is of the opinion that Chelsea has found a new playing style with two upfront Strikers (Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner) who have both been deadly in front of goal this season even though Timo on his part has been missing a whole lot of chances he still has been pivotal in the attack as he uses his pace to burst and create space that Tammy Abraham benefits from.

This Tactical approach with two stickers upfront gives no room for Kai Havertz (Chelsea record signing) as he kai Havertz thrives better behind a lone lone Striker.

Havertz himself is too slow to play on the wings for Chelsea and the game against a very pacy Tottenham would require more than just passes as there would be no room for him in the midfield to have that clear vision of the Striker in front of him.

Paul Merson is of the opinion Kai Havertz is dropped for this game as he wrote on his column on Dailystar saying ” Playing Timo Werner a bit wider and Tammy Abraham upfront seems like their best system”

” Havertz wasn’t pulling any magic before him missing those games he missed he definitely needs time to settle but not in a game like Tottenham”

Even though many would not agree with Merson he definitely said the truth.
