Saúl arrived cobham yesterday and was officially presented as a Chelsea player. Fans have been curious though, waiting to know the jersey number allocated to the Spaniard.
Earlier today, the player’s squad number was revealed and according to the Chelsea official website, Saúl Niguez will be wearing the number 17 shirt for the 2021/22 season.
Saúl Niguez is no stranger to the number 17 shirt as he first wore it in his first couple of seasons at Atletico Madrid.
The number 17 was previously worn by Matteo Kovacic as the Croat wore it for 3 seasons before switching to the number 8 at the beginning of the season and Saul Niguez would be looking to dazzle in that shirt following in the footsteps of the exciting talents that previously wore the number 17 ranging from compatriot, Pedro Rodriguez to Charly Musonda and Chelsea legend, Eden Hazard.
