After his impressive performances in recent matches, Chelsea coach, Frank Lampard decided to start Olivier Giroud against the Toffees. But, the Toffees were tough. Olivier Giroud failed to produce any goal throughout the match.
Chelsea hung their head in defeat, as Everton was able to produce an applaudable performance against Chelsea.

Giylfi Sigurdsson scored for Everton in the 22nd minute, after Chelsea goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy conceded a penalty. He did not fail to deliver after he was given the opportunity to play the penalty. He sent the Senegalese goalkeeper the other way as he fired home.
Chelsea tried everything they could to create chances and score goals, but, Everton players did not take any chances, they blocked and countered on every side. It was really an heartbreaking result for Chelsea because they really thought they could pull this off. However, they still maintain third position on the premier league standings despite defeat.
Everton (the Toffees) on the other hand has been a formidable team, playing really good football this season, as they topped the premier league table at the beginning of the season. They are currently in the top six on the table. Premier league is the only league I can say, is full of surprises, as Everton had a really bad time last season. They were struggling to win their matches against other clubs in the league even after signing in some players.
They finished at the bottom half last season. They have now stepped up their game, winning most of their matches this season and are currently in the top ten of the table this season, looking solid.
Everton and Chelsea are solidly in the race for the premier league title, champions league spot and Europa league spot.
