Carabao cup preview: Man Utd vs West Ham (team news & predictions)

Manchester United host West Ham in the Carabao cup tonight and both sides would be looking for a win that would qualify them to the fourth round.

This would be the second time in just the space of 4 days both sides are meeting and Man Utd were victorious the last time scraping out a 2-1 victory in a dramatic encounter at the London stadium.

Current Form

Manchester United are unbeaten in the premier league this season and their last victory came away at the ground of tonight’s opponent on Sunday.

The game on Sunday was West Ham’s first loss of the season as the hammers have been brilliant all season both domestically and in Europe.

Team News:

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted on making a lot of changes to his side tonight and the gaffer confirmed no fresh injury concerns with Alex Telles and Scott McTominay both returning before their last premier league game. Long term absentee Phil Jones is also expected to be in the squad same as academy prospect Anthony Elanga.

West Ham boss David Moyes has not confirmed any new injury in his squad. The manager is though expected to make a few changes and rest some players. The Hammers also have a boost with the return of top scorer Michail Antonio from suspension.

Man Utd xi: Heaton; Telles, Bailly, Lindelof, Dalot; McTominay, Van De Beek, Lingard; Martial, Elanga, Greenwood

West Ham xi: Areola; Masuaku, Diop, Zouma, Fredericks; Noble, Rice, Fornals; Lanzini, Antonio, Yarmolenko

Prediction:

Despite the rotations, both sides are fielding strong teams and are expected to match each other for large parts of the game. However, Man Utd have more firepower on the bench to call upon if need be. Hence, Man Utd should just edge this one out with a 3-1 victory
