Japan pulls out from hosting continental club giants in 2021 FIFA tournament

FIFA can confirm that it has been informed today by the Japan Football Association (JFA) that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and hosting situation in the country, they are no longer in a position to host the FIFA Club World Cup 2021.

Chelsea are set to feature in the FIFA 2021 club world cup after winning the UEFA Champions League. The Blues would be making their 2nd appearance at the tournament with their first ever appearance coming in 2013 when they lost the final 1-0 to then South American champions Corinthians and they would be targeting their first club world cup trophy this year.

The FIFA Club World Cup is set to kick off in early December and would have the champions of all continents in the world competitng for the major price. Chelsea would be representing Europe after emerging UEFA Champions League winners in May.

FIFA are yet to confirm the new venue for the tournament and all fingers remain crossed as we await a new FIFA decision on the matter.
