Chelsea’s chase of signing a new striker has been fruitful as Inter Milan and Chelsea have come to terms for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku in a bid worth €115m.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Lukaku will arrive in London to complete his move from the Scudetto defending champions to the UEFA Champions League defending champions.
Following the agreement to sign Lukaku between Chelsea and Inter Milan, Jorginho took his time to heap praise on the Belgian striker.
He said: “A player like Lukaku, who has been doing great seasons, was a champion in Italy, for sure is a player who would contribute a lot.”
With the arrival of Romelu imminent, Tuchel has a lot of options upfront as Chelsea still have players like Tammy Abraham, Timo Werner, Michy Batshuayi, Armando Broja and Ike Ugbo. It remains to be seen how Tuchel avails the players to himself.
Tammy Abraham has been linked with a move away from the bridge and his departure now seems imminent as Chelsea agrees to sign Lukaku from Inter Milan.
Lukaku who left Chelsea back in 2014 following his move from Anderlecht back in 2011 scored 87 goals in 166 appearances for Everton between 2014 and 2017 during his stint there. The Chelsea bound striker also netted 42 times in 96 appearances during his two year spell at Manchester United before sealing a move to Inter Milan in the summer of 2019.
Romelu Lukaku scored 24 for Inter Milan in the Serie A last season, helping the Nerazzurri clinch the Scudetto title and hereby putting an end to Juventus nine year reign as Scudetto defending champions.
With Romelu Lukaku poised to complete his move to Chelsea, it remains to be seen if he will arrive in time to participate in Chelsea’s Super Cup clash against Europa League defending champions Villarreal at Belfast on the 11th of August.
