Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he was amazed at Kai Havertz early struggles at Chelsea but he is utterly impressed by how the German midfielder bounced back to top form.
Kai Havertz joined Chelsea last summer from Bayern Leverkusen for a record fee of £72million despite interest from quite a few other European top clubs.
However, the 21-year-old didn’t live up to expectations earlier in the season as he took some time to settle into the squad.
The German International also got infected by covid-19 and suffered a couple of injuries during the early stages of the season.
But the midfielder showed his tenacity by fighting his way back to the top and becoming an integral part of Chelsea’s Champions league triumph.
Arsene Wenger has revealed he is a big fan of Kai havertz – who has nine goals in all competitions for Chelsea this season – and he was pleased to see him adjust and adapt in order to bounce back.
“I believe that Havertz was very disappointing at the start,” Wenger said while speaking to beIN Sports. “I liked him and I was quite amazed how much trouble he had at the start to settle.
“He adjusted, adapted, he came back, he suffered, he spent his period on the bench and came back again. To me, he is a very promising player. I would bet on him for the future.” He concluded.
