Arsenal star sets outrageous record while on international duty

Norway trashed Gibraltar in a FIFA world cup qualifier last night with Erling Haaland grabbing the headlines by scoring a hat-trick.

Erling Haaland wasn’t alone in making the headlines though as Arsenal midfielder Martin Ødegaard was also the life of the Norwegian party in their 5 star performance last night.

Ødegaard made his debut for the Norwegian senior team in April 2014 at the age of 15 and he became his country’s youngest ever goal scorer about a month later.

Arsenal completed the permanent signing of Martin Ødegaard from Real Madrid this summer and the Norwegian captain is expected to provide that creative spark needed in the team and last night he gave Arsenal fans a highlight of what to expect this season.

The 22 year old created 12 chances last night which is the most on record in a European World Cup qualifier since Opta started recording such data in 2010.

It was a performance that gives Arsenal fans flashbacks of former playmaker Mesut Ozil who remains the only player to create 12 chances in a single premier league game since 2003/04, a record the German set while playing for Arsenal against Sunderland in May 2017.

Arsenal fans will now be hoping Ødegaard brings his national team form back to his club side and permanently solve the team’s playmaking issues.
