According to reports from the Daily Mail, Arsenal are making enquiry over a possible transfer of Borussia Dortmund’s winger, Julian Brandt.
The 24-year-old German International who is valued around £22million is reported to be on Mikel Arteta’s wishlist this January.
Arsenal who have being struggling for form this season would be looking to add more fire power upfront to their team this season.
And Julian Brandt – a fast, reliable and lethal winger might just be what Arsenal need to maintain form and fight for a top 4 finish this season.
Brandt joined Dortmund from Leverkusen last season and had a good 2019-20 season. The Dortmund attacker scored seven goals and made 13 assists in 42 appearances last season.
But that form has not been replicated this season. He has lost his place in the starting XI, having only scored one and created one in 22 appearances. Pretty poor form for an attacking player in a free-flowing Dortmund side.
Given he is on a five year contract at Dortmund and having joined in the Summer of 2019, an expensive deal may be required from Arsenal to sign him this January.
The article further stated that a loan with an option to buy deal is an option for Arsenal during negotiations.
Julian Brandt was signed by Dortmund for £22million. However, they are likely to charge a much higher figure given his 2019-20 form.
It remains to be seen what kind of deal could be struck, but a loan-to-buy would suit everyone involved.
