It doesn’t surprise most fans on Lacazette decision not to renew his contract with Arsenal.
He’s always subbed off and looks unhappy about that. He was the star of the show at Lyon but in the Arsenal team he’s been inconsistent and always in the shadow of Aubameyang. Laca has scored some important goals for Arsenal so I try not to be too harsh on him but if he leaves it’s not the end of the world.
From a Striker that won POTY under unai Emery to a guy that is a second fiddle striker to Eddie nketiah it is really understandable on why he decided to not renew his contract.
Arteta really pushes Laca’s buttons I guess. Whenever he is playing well and gets in form, he gets subbed off and the Auba scores goals. Auba then has a stinker in the next few games and then Laca gets 10 mins to prove his worth, can’t – back to the bench. Repeat cycle.
Perhaps it was Arteta’s way of hinting to him that he should look elsewhere.
The timing just isn’t on Laca’s side. Had Auba not signed a long term deal, Laca would have been given a contract extension. As it is now, we have a few too many ‘senior’ players on long contracts in the team and Laca will probably be sacrificed to bring in much needed cash.
I like Laca and Auba but it sucks to see how Laca was playing second fiddle to Auba even when the latter had a bad patch.
