Martin Odegaard joined Arsenal on loan from Real Madrid in January in the pursuit of more game time and some stability in his career. He was not being afforded many opportunities in the Spanish capital, as Zidane clearly prefers the likes of Asensio, Modric, Kroos and Casemiro in those midfield positions.
All reports suggest Arsenal will have a very decent chance of making the move permanent. It is thought that Odegaard just wants to settle somewhere now and if he is not promised game time in Madrid, he will move somewhere he can fulfil his unbelievable potential.
Rumours suggest that if Zidane keeps his job at Madrid, Odegaard will no have much of a future under the Frenchman. And as we have seen with most top clubs during the COVID crisis, if there is a player who isn’t in your plans, now is the time to cash in to replace lost revenue elsewhere.
However, Arsenal have identified a potential backup option in case a permanent deal for Odegaard will not be possible.
Arsenal have been consistently linked with Coutinho of Barcelona and formerly of Liverpool. The Brazilian superstar moved from Liverpool to Barcelona for £142 million, but a failure to fit the Barcelona system and managers not using him too well have lead to him now looking nowhere near worth that kind of money.
In fact, the best football Coutinho has played since leaving Liverpool was for Bayern Munich AGAINST Barcelona.
Barcelona now seem to have reached the conclusion that Coutinho needs to be cashed in on and reports suggest they are ready to accept bids of £35 million.
Arsenal were heavily linked with Coutinho in the summer for a potential loan move, but nothing materialised. It might be that the Gunners could look to return for him.
