Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho made the latest England squad for the upcoming international break much to the surprise of many given his recent performances.
England coach Gareth Southgate is also unsure if Sancho deserved a spot in his squad but apparently current form was not used in assessing the Man Utd winger.
Southgate: “Does he [Sancho] deserve to be [in the England squad] on these performances over the last few weeks? Well, probably not. But I think we feel we have invested in Jadon over a period of time, we believe he can get to a high level.”Telegraph
Southgate: “I would like some time with him [Sancho] to chat with him and help that process that’s going on at Man Utd as well and I think for him to feel that we have belief in him at this point is a good message.”Telegraph
Jadon Sancho hasn’t hit the ground running since his return to England to play for Manchester United. The England international joined the Red devils in the summer from Borussia Dortmund in Germany with so much expectations that he is still yet to live up to as he’s had no goal contributions for his new club so far.
