According to recent reports from the Italian media, AC Milan are already considering triggering the buy option in Tomori’s loan deal at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old centre back has been on top form for AC Milan since joining on loan in January. AC Milan are convinced with Tomori’s form and will reportedly pay the €28million fee to keep him permanently.
There’s no doubt that if this deal is made permanent, there will be a lot of disgruntle amongst the Chelsea fan base who were already disappointed with the initial loan move.
Majority of Chelsea fans see Tomori as a huge prospect and as someone who has a promising future at the club, but as things stand, Chelsea could lose him to Milan.
If this happens, there are two other top centre back talents who the Blues could call upon if ever they need a young centre back in the squad.
Marc Guehi and Ethan Ampadu are the two top prospects who have been making waves at their respective loan clubs.
Marc Guehi is another centre-back to come through the Chelsea youth system, and he’s currently developing in the Championship with Swansea City.
The 20-year-old is like a younger version of Tomori although he isn’t on his level yet.
He’s an aggressive centre-back that has had no problems with the physicality in the Championship despite being so young, plus he’s a ball-player that is great in possession.
Ethan Ampadu on the other hand currently plays on loan at Sheffield United. Although not a regular, he hasn’t failed to impress whenever he is being featured.
