Four Chelsea transfer deals that could be completed before today’s transfer deadline

The January transfer window has been fairly active for Chelsea football club. The window will be closed today and the Blues will be looking to complete late hour deals.

Chelsea have so far used the window to offload players like Fikayo Tomori and Danny Drinkwater on loan, while Lucas Piazon left the club permanently after seven straight loan spells.

But there could be more business done before the deadline, with new boss Thomas Tuchel set to decide over the futures of numerous players in his squad.

We have compiled a list of four pour departures from Stamford Bridge today.

BILLY GILMOUR

Billy Gilmour is expected to depart on loan, and Tuchel left him out of his 20-man squad entirely for Sunday’s win over Burnley.

The young midfielder is reported to be eager to get a loan deal sorted in order to get some first-team football, and there are no shortage of interested clubs.

KEPA ARRIZABALAGA

Chelsea record signing Kepa Arrizabalaga is the second player expected to be offloaded by Chelsea today.

The goalkeeper has only played six times in all competitions this season, featuring just three times in the Premier League.

He has failed to start any of Tuchel’s first two games as Chelsea coach.

OLIVIER GIROUD

The striker was a favourite of Lampard towards the end of his time at the club, but was disappointing in Tuchel’s first game and left out of his second.

Giroud is out of contract at the end of the season, and it’s entirely possible that he’ll be sold today in order to get some first-team football.

He is eager to play consistently before the European Championships, and might be third in the pecking order behind Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner under Tuchel.

EMERSON

Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri could be sold today due to his lack of playing time.

The Blues have Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso ahead of him, and it seems unlikely he’ll get any significant minutes this season.

Palmieri is out of contract in the summer of 2022, and it seems incredibly unlikely he will extend.

Chelsea won’t want to let him leave for nothing, and will therefore want to get rid as soon as possible in order to prevent that from happening.

Inter Milan are said to be interested.
